As Susan Sontag said in "On Photography" ......."Today everything exists to end in a photograph" Certainly true as mobile devices of all kinds record millions of static/motion images, complete with instant posting to file sharing sites. Photographs can convey some sort of immortality to events/people since they will continue to exist outside of the time and space that they were taken. People do not age, places exist that are no longer there in the current time/spatial space. A question is raised does photographs replace reality as time passes, a sort of " false memory" or do they exist as a reality itself, separate from the things recorded?
Many of my photographs from the past to the most recent exist as frozen slices of time. Some are B&W, even infrared spectrum, further distancing itself from most people who rely on color for differentiation, except of course for those with various forms of color vision dichromacy types.
